Ingredients

Pears:

3 cups Cabernet Sauvignon or Cabernet Franc wine

3 cups sugar

2 cinnamon sticks

3 whole star anise

4 Bartlett pears, peeled, halved and cored

 

Assembly:

8 sheets phyllo pastry

½ cup lightly toasted walnut pieces

⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted

2 tablespoons water, for brushing

2 tablespoons sugar

¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
