1 cup toasted hazelnuts

2 cup cake flour

3/4 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon table salt

230g (1 cup) unsalted butter, at room temperature, cut into pieces

3/4 cups packed light brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large egg yolks, at room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons grated orange zest

1/2 cup chocolate-hazelnut spread (recommended: Nutella)

 

Variation:

Blackberry-Pecan Linzer Cookies:

1 cup toasted pecans

2 cups cake flour

3/4 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon table salt

230g (1 cup) unsalted butter, at room temperature, cut into pieces

3/4 cups packed light brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large egg yolks, at room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons grated orange zest, from 3 oranges

1/2 cup seedless blackberry jam
